"We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect." — Anaïs Nin

Maybe I'll change someone's world with these words. You never know.

tshirt quilt is done!

The T shirt quilt is done! :)

I had one square that was difficult after i washed it up, so I needed to do a quick repair zig zag job.
I hope it doesnt have problems in the future.
Either way, this was cool to see come together.
My sister-in-law's step dad will love it!

DAY TWO has commenced

Okay, I don't have any photos of the progress for today on the t-shirt quilt. I DID, however, cut out all the batting squares needed for each of my shirt sandwiches. I may get to the sandwiches tomorrow. Or I might just go to Costco and the clinic so ma can get some routine bloodwork done.
I made more Kefir blueberry muffins today and shared them with the sister missionaries.

raffle tickets anyone?

I did not work on the t-shirt quilt today at all, but i did go to the senior center for knitting and worked on the purples.
After lunch up at Finaghty's with Mom, Sam, Ramona and of course, my brother, Ma and I returned to the center to meet with the Sno-Valley Quilters to get some raffle tickets to sell for this lovely queen sized quilt made by the quilters.
Tickets are $1 and the raffle will be drawn on December 7th 2013 at 2pm at Mt Si Senior Center's Christmas Bazaar.
If anyone wants to buy a raffle ticket, just let me know. I will hook you up!
I left mom at the center to cut out 2 1/2 inch strips of group fabric with the ladies, and I returned home to bake Kefir Blueberry Muffins
I picked Sam up from work tonight and we had dinner at Arby's. We NEVER go there...It was different for us. :)
After dinner, Sam and I returned home (while ma and dad were at Costco getting milk and a craft table) and I sewed up a few teether necklaces and burp cloths.
A photo of my pretties from today.

I will be posting these on Etsy in the next few days. :)

Tomorrow, my parents are going with the center to mt rainier. I will be cutting out batting, spray basting my t-shirt square "sandwiches" together (t-shirt, batting, t-shirt= sandwich) and my friend Monika is coming over to watch me strain my keifer and then I will split the "grains" with her so she can take home her very own supply. It's like friendship yogurt!
Tomorrow morning, I want to make a smoothie with Keifer, Spinach, and strawberries. Probably Agave as well, because of the bitter taste of the Keifer.
I have a dozen muffins left that need distributing to the neighbors/Monika and her mother tomorrow.

Tomorrow night, after I pick up Sam, she and I are going to head toward Puyallup to spend the weekend with cousin Carol.
I need to remember to put laundry in first thing tomorrow!

"This valley is just one long smorgasbord."

IT LOOKS LIKE A GRABOID WENT THROUGH OUR BACKYARD!

The septic tank Drainage field was put in today.

Now we wait for inspection and then they can cover it up and we will be done!

T-shirt Quilt DAY ONE

Today I cut up 33 shirts for a 30 shirt t-shirt quilt.
I will use three of the fronts as a back instead, so I can get all of the shirts in there!

Here is the carnage...
some of the stack while i was in the thick of it...
My 15 inch ruler and the rest of my first process supplies. :)

Some College T-shirts from long ago where he and his wife went to school.

THE whole stack.
A small token I took for myself :)
And a scarf I made from the bottom of one of the t-shirts.

Man, I'm clever...
In a few hours, I will wake from what I haven't slept yet, and it will be Wednesday.
Yarn Therapy and lunch with the ladies!!!
At Yarn Therapy, I will start cutting t-shirts into 15 inch squares for a t-shirt quilt for my sister-in-law's stepfather.
I will update about my progress with each step.

It's a beautiful day

This morning I somehow slept in WAYYY too long. I woke up...at NOON! well just before noon, but then took a quick shower and way out the door at noon.
Ma needed to be at the Center to sew by 1 and dad and I needed to be at the chapel at 1 for my presidency meeting (he needed to be there as priesthood representation in the building during our meeting).
SO, we hopped in the car, grabbed lunch at subway really quick, and dropped ma off at the Center just to rush over to the building for the meeting.
After my meeting, dad went back home and I joined ma at the Center. I knit on my purples a little while and then cut out and ironed some fabric from our scrap box to make 2 1/2 inch "jelly roll" size strips out of it for use in the quilter's donation quilts.
After the craft time, I took ma back home, and then I was off to my Visiting Teaching appointment dinner at my Visiting Teaching partner's house.
We enjoyed dinner together and held FHE with each other (my partner, her two kids, the sister we visit and her daughter and I). It was really cute. My partner's daughter is 9, she played the piano for our song (Book of Mormon Stories). We then watched a short video from LDS.org Mormon Messages by Elder Jeffrey R Holland about the Book of Mormon. We ended our evening with a treat of course! Carrot Cake! yummy!
I brought each of them a jar of my home made strawberry jam! Decorated with a RAFIA bow!!

Who does that since 1990!?! I'm sortof a big deal...
Life was good today.

OH, and I heard on the news that the fire is 50 % contained today and they have dug out a "tight line" around the fire to contain it further. At least is SHOULDNT spread at this point.

adventurous ash/arch night

As I was off to my brother's house last night to have Auntie Ash & Archie night, the fire seemed to be mostly contained. Around 7pm.
I had a great time playing with my nephew. He was super super cranky, but he was happy some of the time too. He did want the pacifier the whole time, but didn't fuss when i'd take it from him for a while.
He wasn't happy enough to show it on camera though...
Most of the night I felt like this...
with little to no reaction from him.
He was quite the trooper with me, considering all he wanted was his momma.
Around bedtime, he got super relaxed and happy. Right before the fussy tangle of me holding him and reading him stories...
Until our standoff was won...BY ME! he zonked. Then I was able to move him to HIS bed.
He only fussed one more time after that. When he ended up in the corner of his crib without his pacifier. I rescued the pacifier and moved him and he was great.

It doesn't get much better than this! Even when they're not feeling well, I love spending time with the littles in my life. What good is family if you can't be your absolute worst around them sometimes? I am happy to help out and just love on them whenever I am asked. :)

Took more pictures. It is MUCH bigger than yesterday.
I went and got a bit of lunch at McDonalds (Diet Coke, McChicken, Fries) and took them home.
My sister-in-law has asked me to watch my dear nephew tonight! I am so excited! he has the GREATEST SMILE OF ALL TIME. always happy.

The helicopter with the water bucket has been running back and forth from the river by the bridge on Mt Si Road.

Here is the latest updated information on the Wildfire  from Living Snoqualmie.com
