Today i went about making a ribbon board for a friend. I had a big bulletin board that i wasnt using, so i cut it, making two pieces this size.
Then i covered the board with quilt batting (two layers for nice thickness) and used a staple gun to attach this awesome elvis fabric to the board.
THEN, the hard part came. deciding whether or not to do random ribbon placement.
this was the first try.
then i placed the finished product across the room from me while i went about doing other things, and i kept looking at it and it started to bug me that there was a gap, so try number two involved adding a ribbon for overall coverage.
after this attempt i was fairly satisfied with the product, so i put it back where it was and again went about doing other things. WELL...it stuck out like a sore throat...i mean thumb, and i couldn't go about my day without making it more formal and less wonky. so here is what i have found works best for me.
organized but slightly off for a cute random look. but really, i am not a random placement person. things seem to always end up back in some sort of pattern or order.
and then, to finish it off, i stapled one of my nametag/labels to the back.
third time's a charm, right?

I like symetry too! The abstract looks good until you try living with it and I just can't do it.
